The Lodge at Castle Leslie

Castle Leslie is a beautiful country estate situated on 1,000 acres of idyllic Irish countryside in County Monaghan.

The History of Castle Leslie

The Castle still belongs to its founding family – the Leslie Family – who arrived in Ireland in the 16th Century and bought the property. Built in the Scottish Baronial style, it was designed by the firm Lanyon, Lynn and Lanyon in 1870, on the site of an earlier castle.

The past decade has seen extensive restoration of the property, bringing it back to its original glory.

  • Good afternoon Margaret,

Oh, I love these type of places. The older the better and with lots of history attached. The video of Castle Leslie is really nice and transmits the cozy atmosphere. The surroundings are beautiful and I now know I am in need of a holiday, will show this to my better half.
I also have been in the tourism working in different countries and also on cruise ships. All these years give me everlasting memories I would not want to have missed. A great idea to have a website on castles, such a contrast to what one normally sees. It will be a very good guide for when we visit Ireland, thank you.

    Regards, Taetske

    • Hi Taetske,

Thanks so much for your visit and comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the info on Castle Leslie – its a beautiful place to stay! I hope you do get to visit Ireland one day….and have the chance to stay in a castle 🙂

  • This sounds like something I would love to see! I haven’t yet been to Ireland, but I have family in Newcastle, which is only a hop, skip and jump away.

What does it cost to stay at the Castle Leslie Estate for a couple of days?

It’s really lovely, and it’s nice to know what kind of activities are available there. Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Jordan,

Yes, Ireland is only a short distance away from Newcastle, so hopefully one day you’ll be able to visit!

Staying at Castle Leslie Estate is not as expensive as you might thing. Just taking a quick look for June of this year, you can purchase an Advance Booking B&B rate starting at around US$150. This is both for Lodge and Castle rooms. They also have all sorts of special offers and packages through the year with various inclusions.

Its a great place to treat yourself to a special holiday!

Thanks for your visit and comment,
