Standing on a site with 13th-century origins near Bree, Enniscorthy, Wilton Castle was burned to the ground by armed men during the Irish Civil War in March 1923 and lay a roofless ruin for over 80 years. Current owner Sean Windsor began restoring it in 2003, reopening half of the castle in 2014 as a guesthouse and wedding venue, with its dramatic split façade still showing the unrestored side.
